Manifesto of Love

Listen to or download MP3

As an architecture student, I was always impressed by early twentieth-century manifestos. This song owes only the idea of a "manifesto" to that experience; there is nothing really radical about the song's content. Musically, there is more than a bit of gospel and r&b influence in my piano arrangement. And thanks to Susan for shooting the video clips with my Flip camcorder.

Manifesto of Love
Words and music © 1983 J. Ochshorn

1. i dream about you
i'd die without you baby, just like a martyr
i long to kiss you
each time i miss you baby, it's getting harder
'cause i love you — i'm thinking of you

2. i can't forget you
i've got to get through baby, give me permission
i'll write you a love song
i'll make it last long baby, you've got to listen

so don't fight it cause girl i'm gonna write it

i'll write a...
[chorus] manifesto of love
i'll take it from the skies above
and i'll nail it to your garden wall
i'll shout it from the rooftops and that ain't all
my manifesto of love
tells you what i'm thinking of
i will speak no other words till i get you, babe
till i get you baby

3. you'll never lose me
if you refuse me baby, you'd make my world end
if i could reach you>br> i would beseech you baby, please be my girlfriend

if you need it all you gotta do is read it

it's in my... [chorus]

3. don't keep me waiting
anticipating baby, tell me you've read it
cause i need you right now
and i need you every night now, you won't regret it

so don't blow it cause girl if you got to know it

it's in my... [chorus]
